Overview

The PROVE Center is at the forefront of advancing patient-reported outcomes (PROs) in clinical care, research, and health system performance. Our research spans four interconnected domains: Measurement Development, Quality Improvement & Performance, Population Health and Data Science & AI. Each area reflects our commitment to rigorous science and practical translation into better care for patients.

We develop, validate, and refine patient-reported outcome measures and guide teams in selecting fit-for-purpose PROMs. Our work ensures precise, clinically meaningful assessment across diverse conditions and settings.

In close partnership with the Mass General Brigham PROMS Program, we embed PROs into quality initiatives and regulatory reporting to turn data into action. We use analytics to reduce unwarranted variation, improve patient experience, and support value-based care.

We link PROs with clinical, environmental, and community-level information to understand how context shapes symptoms, recovery, and service use. Findings inform practical changes in care delivery, including rural cancer work using large cohort studies and multilevel modeling.

We are building capacity in applying data science and AI to PROs, with early projects in translation, automated scoring, and predictive modeling. This growing area aims to expand how PROs inform personalized care and system performance.Toggle Content
