Calvin Schuster is a medical student at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine who is completing a Dean’s Year of Research between his third and fourth year. Before medical school, he obtained a B.A. in Biological Sciences with a Minor in Creative Writing at Cornell University. He then spent two years working at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in the Schulman Lab as part of the Division of Hemostasis and Thrombosis, where he studied genetic modifiers of the tissue factor pathway. He is passionate about addressing the health disparities that the transgender community faces through research, advocacy, and education. His current research interests include gender-affirming surgery outcomes, medical education on gender-affirming care, and wound healing.
