Claire Morton is a general surgery resident at Yale New Haven Hospital completing research at the PROVE Center and the Center for Surgery and Public Health as a Mentored Education and Research Training in Aging and Surgery (MERITAS) Fellows. Claire graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts having created an interdisciplinary major titled “What It Means to Die: The Biopsychosocial Process of Aging and Death.” After working for a year as a home health aide and nursing assistant she completed her medical degree at the University of Maryland, where she graduated with honors.
Claire’s research interests center around improving care for older adults undergoing surgery, including how to better center the patient perspective throughout processes of care. While conducting her work with the PROVE Center and CSPH, Claire is concurrently pursuing a Masters in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School as a Grossman Fellow.
