SEMINAR: Challenges and Successes in the Implementation of PROMs at a Musculoskeletal Specialty Hospital

Leaders at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York, have developed a framework to enhance and expand the use of patient- reported outcome measures (PROMs). Over the past 3 years, they have built 28 different PROMs into the electronic health record system and developed clinical decision-making tools. This seminar will discuss industry-wide developments and limitations and outline how HSS has incorporated solutions to support patient engagement, clinical care, health care research, and quality-driven activities.

Vinicius Antao, MD, MSc, PhD, is a Senior Director in the Center for the Advancement of Value in Musculoskeletal Care, where he is responsible for supporting the creation and implementation of state of the art registries and the development of strategy and operational means to improve collection and analysis of clinical data and quality outcomes. As part of this role, he is leading the implementation of condition-specific PROMs collection for all Service Lines at HSS.
